Raised in the Midwest on powdered milk and Johnny Cash. Gregg began
a career in the cable television industry some twenty years ago
and eventually became, among other things, one of the founding
members of the Independent Film Channel and IFC Films. He climbed
to the top; then did the unthinkable and jumped off. There
has always been a deeper calling in Gregg. Primarily he is and
always has been an artist, one with a social conscience. I watched
Gregg in this process of painful exchange from industry leader
to Buddhist disciple. A year ago he gave up NY for a Sangha in
Vietnam. This makes me think of Joseph Campbell and his writings
of the hero’s journey. I see Gregg this way. He entered
the unknown and emerged with new consciousness. This embodiment
is the artist now whose work evokes figuratively and symbolically
this journey. This is an art with a message whose beauty
and intelligence is expressed in the liquid folds of metal
become the corpus of enlightenment. Here is a striving to disappear
the roots of belief manifested in materiality.
